Are you familiar with Severance? It's a near-future workplace thriller set within Lumon corporation, which aims to improve work-life balance by compartmentalizing work and leisure time. I won't give away any spoilers, but I highly recommend watching it.
If thrillers aren’t your thing, there is still a lot to be inspired by in the show's visuals—which I’d describe as mid-century futurism.
Production designer Jeremy Hindle put it like this:
“We wanted to confuse the viewer about whether this is a period piece, contemporary, or the future. The lamps and chairs, all of those things were either manufactured or found in faraway lands because we didn’t want people to say, ‘Oh, that’s an Eames chair’.”
For the design of the Lumon office building, Hindle drew inspiration from the sweeping lines and geometries of modernist architect Eero Saarinen, specifically the John Deere World Headquarters in Illinois.
During filming, the crew opted for another Saarinen creation, the Bell Labs Holmdel Complex in New Jersey, to serve as Lumon's exterior shots.
